ITS RELIGION WEDNESDAY!

So I read Q’s post and was thinking of a personal response to it (being that I really do have honest concern about the subject).

But then I saw one of my facebook pal’s status updates. He’s particularly charged against religion. And he apparently saw a picture comment that upset him, word for word he posted this:

“God has blessed XXXXX so much in allowing him to be the top of his class in Sniper School” - comment from a friend’s photo album about their BF graduating the marines. someone please explain the rationale behind this. Christians are just as bad as Muslims for infusing religion with their wars

And a response came immediately to my head. Word for word I posted this:

I don’t know if the lady realized it, but that particular statement is really only a mechanism to sew humility among personal achievement so that pride doesn’t get to one’s head. Even the word “allowing” dilutes God’s effect in that statement to a simple observer. And I suppose it still leaves room for God to cause XXXXX’s bullets to miss a target or hit a target pending God’s will for said target’s life. And now we’ve come full circle…and all we’ve really said is “XXXXX is top of his calss in Sniper School” … YEY! ^.^

I liked my response because in my own little world it provided a antidote for his anger towards two massive religions by neutralizing the social power assumed by them.

Of course,
in reality,
assume this man is angrily assuming that some Christians and Muslimsassume to know what the creator of the universe wants. They assume to know so specifically that they feel comfortable writing down in English a proud and personal description of it. Then likely use it to support a cause he finds morally void.

And lastly, I’d like to come up with a response to Q’s post. But until then I’m just going to reflect on how delightfully little we know. Motives, facts, revelations, reasons, etc. keep you on your toes. Humans (unlike Gods) are truly blessed with the thrill of not knowing. I think accepting ignorance could go a long way in combating the abuse of ignorance.
